10/18/2023 0 Comments Apple keynote 2016 october![]() The number pushers at Apple interpret this as that the concept of "PC", i.e. Look Apple's Q4/2016 quarterly figures on, one finds that the Mac is dying: 4,8 million Macs were sold worldwide, a year earlier it was 5,7 million - in each case before the October keynote. Apple acts according to the pointless principle, which is popular with number pushers: “Are sales and sales falling? Then let's just make our coveted 'premium product' even more expensive!” I know various companies that have been knocked out by this “management” idea. I have a sinister suspicion: You might think Apple wants to milk the fanboys. ![]() So where does this whopping price increase of over 25 percent come from, while all other products in the IT sector have become cheaper?Įven with inflation and the dollar exchange rate, this price difference of almost 450 euros cannot be explained. The hardware is also likely to be hardly more expensive in development and production than it was at the time. Even with inflation and the dollar exchange rate, this price difference of almost 450 euros cannot be explained. The beginner of the brand new technology change cost 2006 so 1809 euros net. At that time, however, VAT was still 16%. My 2006 Macbook Pro of the first series came into my possession - again via the student outfitter - for well under 2.000 euros. Under Steve Jobs, Macs gradually became cheaper. In this respect, the 600 euros extra for the Mac was money well invested at the time. Nobody had heard of netbooks, let alone tablets, and the standard PC was a big, noisy tower-sized dust collector. At that time, even trashy Vobis laptops without a battery (!) were not available for less than 1000 euros. Nevertheless, as a student I had to save for a long time. It was very expensive back then: the dream model should normally cost 1799 euros, I got it two notes cheaper from the Edu shop acquired. I still remember exactly what I paid for my first iBook G3 in 2003. Tell me, are they crazy in Cupertino? Phil Schiller "explains" the new Macbook Pro. And actually no device class can still be connected to the other thanks to adapter chaos. However, the price specification in relation to the hardware equipment is simply cheeky: The 15″ entry-level model with 256 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM should cost a whopping 2.700 euros. The touch bar may take some getting used to, but it makes sense. A lot has been said about the new model: I think the changes compared to the predecessor are basically good. Only the Macbook Pro - this has now been updated again after almost 18 months. ![]() Only: That's no reason to treat the Mac lineup so neglected. I will probably use it for a few more years. I only bought the MacBook Pro that followed it because I wanted to be mobile. I had my last iMac for four years because there was no incentive to replace it with a newer model. You no longer need a new Mac or PC every two years because the old one buckles from processor heat under the demands of current software. It's 2016 and yes, the hardware boom of the '90s and '00s is over. ![]()
